I want to thank everybody who's sent their condolences and well-wishes over the last week. It's very comforting to know that I have people who care.
Muffy is gone. It hurts, and I still cry a bit when I walk in the house and she's not there, or I look in a room and she isn't perched on the bed like the princess she was. But I also know Muffy and she would never have wanted us to cry over her so much. Whenever we'd cry, she'd come and lick our tears away and be with us. We had her for thirteen wonderful, love-filled years, and became so much like a family member. She would want us to get on with our lives and love another dog as much as we loved her.
And we will.
We found a dog - puppy - who we fell in love with immediately. It's almost a fluke, really, how we found her, but I'm glad we did.
She was one of four, three girls and a boy, born five and a half weeks ago. Frankly, I wanted all of them, cute and fluffy as they were, but we couldn't afford it. This little one seemed to take to us (she'd fallen asleep on me by the end of our visit) and we just flipped over her. The owner said she was trouble, seeing as she was the first one to start growling and barking, hehe. We're calling her Roxie.
She'll be in our home at the end of next week.

I truly believe that Muffy would approve. After all, we gave her a great life, she loved us, and she'd want us to give the same love to another dog. Muffy may be gone, but she will never, ever be forgotten.
